Well, here's hoping spring has FINALLY arrived, and to stay this time! I love being able to see the grass that's slowly re-appearing from under the melting snow. It makes my heart happy!
The other day, after a lot of snow had previously melted, and then we got 4 days straight of snow, my daughter came up to me and said "Where'd summer go?" I couldn't help but chuckle. I mean seriously, when an almost three year old is sick and tired of winter and is ready for warmer weather, Mother Nature needs to take a hint!
I love being able to spend time outside more now again. With me being very pregnant, and us having had around 3-4 feet of snow on our yard, taking my daughter outside to play in all that snow was not going to happen! She'd sink in down to her chin, and I wouldn't have been able to walk in all that snow either with my belly. So we lived like hermits and stayed inside. We both got cabin fever.
But yesterday we got some fresh air and it felt great! Even if the sun chose to hide during the time we were out there, we pulled out the sidewalk chalk and did a little drawing and had some picture-taking fun. We weren't out there longer than 30 minutes, but it still felt good to be able to actually SIT down and not worry about plunking our butts into deep snow. We ended up going downstairs to play. My daughter practiced on her bike and she's getting really good at starting herself! We're still working on the stopping (braking) though. I guess she thinks if you say "stop!" the bike will automatically just quit moving! We're excited to be able to take her out and let her try out her bike on some flat, straight stretch of sidewalk this summer. We thought maybe rotary park, but then thought better of that idea. That path is just way too hilly for someone who is just learning how to ride a bicycle.
Every morning I wake up and see sunshine streaming in through my bedroom window and I can't help but sing to myself "It's a beautiful morning...". I hope this continues, cuz we're all loving it!
